South face of Aiguille Verte bathing in the sun light
Me climbing the steel ladders on the approach
Wouter taking in the views
Crossing snow fields on the way to the Charpoua hut
That’s me
Charpoua glacier, the hut is on the rock island
Gazing at the south face

Hut life
An early start, romping up the glacier
The first easy pitches
Looking down the first easy pitches
Almost at the belay
The views are spectacular, the Grandes Jorasses in the back
Closing in on the steeper pitches, they were quite thin
Wouter on the first steep pitch
How nice is this for a couloir?
Close to the mixed finish of the couloir
On the Sans Nom Ridge in high winds!
After the first obstacles on the ridge it became easier and really scenic
Pretty narrow ridge traversing
Just before the last few gendarmes on the Sans Nom Ridge
Summit in white out conditions, it was bitterly cold and windy
We descended the Whymper Couloir (seen in the back) and slept in the Couvercle hut
A video of our ascent
Mooie beelden, vooral van de “Sans Nom Ridge”
Bij het zien van deze film en foto’s kan ik eventjes weer genieten van de bergen.
